Main research areas of Prof. Hauf's group

Our research focusses on the impacts of weather on industry and traffic, especially the impact of adverse weather on the air traffic system. The aim is to develop and provide solution strategies and assistence for decision makers as well as for users of this traffic system.

Current key topics are:

ADWICE - Advanced Diagnosis and Warning system for aircraft ICing Environments

Information on aircraft icing and the warning system ADWICE, which was developed in cooperation with the German Aerospace Center (Deutschs Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt, DLR), the German weather provider Deutschen WetterDienst (DWD) and the Institute of Meteorology and Climatology (IMuK) of the Leibniz Universität Hannover in 1998, can be found here

DIVMET - DIVert METeorology

The model DIVMET provides simulated aircraft routes in adverse weather situations.

Previous research areas

In finalized research areas we investigated weather related delays, incidents and accidents in air traffic and identified the effect of meteorological conditions in winter times at airports.
