General and Traffic Meteorology
Our research focussed on the impacts of weather and climate on industry and traffic, especially the impact of adverse weather on the air traffic system. The aim was to develop and provide solution strategies and assistence for decision makers as well as for users of this traffic system.
The illustration above shows a snapshot of a flight path simulation with DIVMET and NAVSIM. NAVSIM is a global air traffic simulation model, which is operated at the University of Salzburg (Prof. Rokitansky). The coupling of DIVMET with NAVSIM allows for realistic adverse weather avoidance modelling.
