4D-Images (4Dimensional Imaging Spectroradiometer)

In cooperation with the Gigaherz-Optik GmbH we develop a new stray light reduced 4D-imaging spectroradiometer (2d image, 1D wavelength, 1D time) for measuring spectral radiance in the UV (280 nm – 400 nm) with high spatial and temporal resolution.
This new device will enable new scientific investigations, which would be impossible to achieve with currently available instruments. They are capable of measuring a spectrum instantly but only for one direction. However, a fast measurement of the spectral sky radiance distribution is crucial to investigate the influence of clouds, atmospheric trace gases and aerosols on radiative transfer of our atmosphere.
